New Moon Products Announced! 491 Network Player/Preamplifier + 461 Power Amplifier
MOON has officially announced the latest additions to Compass Collection (which launched last year with the integrated MOON 371). Meet the MOON 491 Network Player and 461 Power Amplifier.
These products take the success of the 371 to an entirely new level of performance using upgraded preampfification, phono stage, digital streaming and power amplification.
It’s quite a combination!
The MOON 491 is built to manage digital and analog sources with precision, stability, and control.
At its core is MiND 2, MOON’s proprietary network streaming platform. The 491 uses the UPnP protocol, is Roon Ready, and supports Apple AirPlay, Bluetooth, Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect, and TIDAL Connect. With the MOON MiND Controller app for iOS and Android, listeners can access major music services including Qobuz, TIDAL, Deezer, and Spotify.
The 491 also integrates MOON Hybrid Power, a proprietary power supply architecture designed to deliver ultra-stable, very low-noise DC power. Operating at switching frequencies beyond the audio band, it helps protect sensitive audio circuits and contributes to a lower noise floor.
Its DAC section uses two ESS 9039Q2M converters in dual-mono mode, paired with a precision clock and a refined output stage. This architecture supports stable, precise, and detailed digital-to-analog conversion.
The MOON 461 is engineered to deliver substantial power while preserving the integrity of the signal.
At its heart is MDCA, MOON Distortion-Cancelling Amplifier, a proprietary architecture pioneered in the flagship North Collection. Designed to reduce distortion and improve linearity, MDCA helps the 461 reproduce the source signal with clarity, accuracy, and dynamic expression.
Two proprietary MOON Hybrid Power supply modules, one dedicated to each channel, provide stable, low-noise, high-current power to the amplifier. This dual-mono implementation supports channel separation, lowers crosstalk, and improves current delivery, especially with lower-impedance loudspeaker loads.
The 461 delivers 150 watts per channel into 8 ohms, 300 watts per channel into 4 ohms, and 450 watts in bridged mono mode (you can run to as mono blocks) into 8 ohms.
As with all MOON products, the 461 and 491 are backed by a 10-year warranty.
