Varèse
The most ambitious digital audio system ever created — up to six components featuring a new Differential Ring DAC architecture with dedicated Mono DACs for each channel, connected via dCS's proprietary ACTUS protocol.
Schedule a DemoThe Varèse represents the culmination of years of parallel research at dCS. During the COVID lockdown, the engineering team began exploring how to further advance their Ring DAC technology. What emerged was not an incremental upgrade, but a fundamental rethinking of digital-to-analog conversion.
The breakthrough: dedicated Mono DACs for each channel, eliminating crosstalk entirely and providing separate power supplies, transformers, and analog output stages for left and right. The result is a soundstage of extraordinary width, depth, and precision.
The Core handles all streaming, processing, and control, distributing data to the Mono DACs via ACTUS — a proprietary protocol that carries audio, clock, and control signals on a single cable. The User Interface provides a large touchscreen for system operation, while the Master Clock provides the timing foundation for the entire system.
An optional CD/SACD Transport completes the system for disc playback. Every component is machined from solid aluminum billets and hand-assembled in Cambridgeshire, England.
